Welcome to West Brighton
With a large number of houses built before 1950, West Brighton is a great neighborhood for those who love heritage homes. Don't let that sway you, though, if you have your heart set on building from scratch: there are also new developments going on as well as West Brighton townhomes for sale.
Attractions like the Staten Island Zoo and Snug Harbor, which is home to baseball fields, the Staten Island Conservatory of Music, public gardens and a children's museum, offer plenty of activities for West Brighton home owners. St. Peter's Cemetery, Staten Island's oldest Roman Catholic cemetery, offers a green space for contemplation and respite at the end of a busy day.
Foodies will be happy about the selection of restaurants in West Brighton. French, Chinese, Mexican, German, good old-fashioned BBQ-style and, of course, Italian food will appeal to the pickiest of palates. Shopaholics, too, can take pleasure in the array of independent bookstores, gift shops, and clothing boutiques.
On a more practical side note, West Brighton is home to Richmond University Medical Centre. Formerly known as St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center, the centre is an academic affiliate of the New York Medical College's School of Medicine. The hospital takes care of the health and wellbeing of area residents every day.
